Choosing the best lender from which to borrow your student loan can be a daunting task. There are scores of banks, credit unions and specialty lending companies from which to choose. Federal regulations require that each student borrower must personally choose his or her own lender. This choice cannot be assigned by the school.
Because many students and parents ask the Financial Aid Office for guidance in locating a reputable lender, we have compiled a list of all lenders that have made Stafford loans to DCCCD students within the past three years. Lenders on this list are not preferred or recommended over any other lender that participates in the Federal Stafford Loan program. The list has been edited to present only the names of those lenders that are still participating in the Federal Stafford Loan program as of the date this page was last updated. Lenders that have indicated that they will not be making loans to DCCCD students have also been edited out of this list.
Very important information about your lender choice:
- You have the right to choose your lender.
- You do not have to select a lender from the list provided.
- You will not be penalized for choosing another lender.
- Certification of your loan application will not be unnecessarily delayed because you choose a different lender.

Please be aware that if your lender does not process loan applications through the Loan by Web electronic processing system, the college cannot guarantee how long your lender will take to process the loan. The college will certify your loan as quickly as possible. However, manual processing of a paper loan application can take a significantly longer amount of time. The college will not be responsible for delays in lender response time.
DCCCD and its employees receive no benefit personally or professionally from the lending institutions whose information is provided on this list. In some instances, philanthropic foundations associated with lending institutions donate funding to the DCCCD Foundation to provide scholarships to DCCCD students.
