Applying for a Loan

In addition to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a separate application is required for Federal Stafford and PLUS loans.

To apply for a loan, contact the Financial Aid Office at the Dallas County Community College where you plan to enroll for the majority of your credit hours.

The colleges of DCCCD generally use an electronic process for certifying and processing student loan applications. The process, known as Loans by Web, allows the student borrower to enter application information online and electronically sign the application, significantly reducing the time and effort in completing the loan process.

Virtually all student loan lenders operating in Texas have agreements with the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corp. (TG) that owns the system. Except in rare instances, almost any lender that you choose will be processed through this system.

DCCCD does not endorse or recommend the services and products of any lender. The list of lender ID numbers provided within this section of information is only for your convenience in identifying lenders that current and past students have used.

Note: As one of your primary rights as a borrower, you can choose your lender.

If you choose a lender that does not accept loans processed by the TG system, your college’s Financial Aid Office will process a paper application to your lender without any unnecessary delays.

Please be aware that the paper application process is much slower and that the college will not be able to monitor the progress of your application after the application has been certified and mailed to the lender.
