If you’re trying to budget for the upcoming school year, check out the estimated costs of attendance (COA) in the table below. These figures provide an estimate of what it costs to attend a Dallas County Community College for a traditional nine-month academic year.

Your actual costs of attendance will vary according to the number of credit hours you register for, your residency status, the housing you choose and your lifestyle, but this page may help you plan ahead and figure how much money you’ll need.

Need help paying for college? Remember, we have financial aid available to help you! To begin your application for financial aid, please visit http://www.fafsa.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Note that the standard amounts allowed for each COA component provided on this page are used to determine financial aid eligibility. (See below for more information.)

Tuition and Fees

Books and Supplies — The average cost of books and supplies for a typical student for an entire academic year.

Room and Board — A reasonable estimate of what it would cost to live in the Dallas metro area while attending school. Actual costs may vary by individual choices related to location and circumstances.

Transportation — An estimate of what it would cost for a student to get to and from the college campus, not to maintain a vehicle.

Personal and Misc. — A reasonable estimate of personal living expenses during the enrollment period. Actual expenses will vary.

How Estimated Costs of Attendance Affect Financial Aid

The costs of attendance (COA) figures in the chart above provide an estimate of what it costs to attend a Dallas County Community College for a traditional nine-month academic year. Your actual expenses may vary, but the standard amounts allowed for each COA component provided on this page are used to determine financial aid eligibility. Each financial aid applicant is assigned a COA according to how the student fits into the classifications in the chart.

The Financial Aid Office must make sure that the combined total of federal, state or local financial aid awarded does not exceed a student’s COA. The COA for Dallas County Community College District is revised and recorded annually with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
