Loan Entrance Counseling

Federal regulations require that every first-time borrower must successfully complete loan entrance counseling before he or she can receive the first loan disbursement of a federal direct loan.

See Applying for a Loan for more information, or contact us with questions.

Loan Exit Counseling

Borrowers must complete a loan exit counseling session during the last semester before transferring or leaving the college that awarded the student’s loans. You may complete the loan exit counseling online at either the Mapping Your Future website or at the U.S. Department of Education’s National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website.

Federal regulations require the college to ensure that each borrower has been provided information about repayment benefits and obligations. Therefore, the college may withhold grades, transcripts, diplomas and other academic records until the exit counseling has been completed and proof of the complete counseling session has been submitted to the college.

Note: Graduating student borrowers are strongly encouraged to complete this counseling requirement during the final half of the last semester to avoid any delays in getting transcripts released for work or for transfer to a university.
