You can ask us to reduce or cancel your loans. You will need to complete and submit the Financial Aid Adjustment Form (PDF - 41KB).

If funds have already been disbursed (paid out) to your Higher One account, we will only cancel your loan if you are ready to pay the amount due in full.

Time Frame for Cancelling Loans

If you want to cancel all or a part of your loans, you need to submit the Financial Aid Adjustment Form:

  • within 14 days after the date the district notifies you of your right to cancel the loan
    or
  • by the first day of the college’s payment period

whichever is later.

If you cancel all or a portion of a loan, your college will return the canceled amount to the loan program account, and the loan fees will be eliminated or reduced in proportion to the amount returned.

You may also pay back all or a part of your loan within 120 days of the date your college received your loan money, and your loan fees will be eliminated or reduced.
