Where were you in 1966?
If you were old enough to read and lived in Dallas during that year, you couldn't have missed the omnipresent news coverage about the creation of a brand new higher education institution — Dallas County Junior Colleges.
Forty-one years later, that same institution has grown to become the largest undergraduate institution in the state of Texas and changed its name to Dallas County Community College District.
It has been an exciting and productive journey. Often, it's taken heroic efforts on the part of our employees, but in the end, we've always been able to add value to lives and build community.
This year, we're combining the Conference Days for administrators, faculty and professional support staff into one giant, fun-filled 41st anniversary celebration.
So mark your calendars now! Plan to attend Conference Day on Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Dallas Convention Center (see Maps/Carpool/Contact Info section for more information).
All the colleges will be closed for the day on Thursday, Feb. 22. This is an official work day, so you will be expected to attend Conference Day. However, if you have professional conflicts or other personal leave situations, just confirm your schedule with your supervisor and submit the appropriate leave forms.
Additionally, remember that Friday, Feb. 23, is a regular work day for Administrators and PSS, but not for faculty as most classes are suspended so that instructors may attend the TCCTA conference. All locations will be open on Friday. |
