Texas Scholars Program Texas Scholars was brought to the Dallas area in 2000 when forming a partnership between the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas Independent School District. It has proven to be an inexpensive and practical program designed to motivate all students to be college ready starting at the 9th grade level. The program is designed to motivate students to stay on the Recommended Plan of course study, as well as pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) testing. The Greater Dallas Chamber recruits volunteers and companies to present to approximately 13,000 8th graders in Dallas County. DORCE adopts A.W. Spence Academy and presents to approximately 400 students.
