Administrators and Supervisors Academy

What is the Administrators and Supervisors Academy?

In response to the need for a systematic and consistent approach to the professional development of supervisors and administrators, the District Department of Human and Organizational Development (OrgDev) has developed the Administrators and Supervisors Academy.

The goal of the academy is ongoing/just-in-time professional development for supervisors and administrators to enable them to function effectively in leadership positions they currently hold in the District.

The Administrators and Supervisors Academy consists of two programs that are offered twice each quarter:

  • The Administrators and Supervisors Academy
  • Administrators Orientation Program

Each academy focuses on identified developmental needs of directors, deans, and vice presidents throughout the District. Priority is given to issues related to the District policies, procedures, and processes as well as supervisory and leadership skills.

Who should attend?

The specific audience of this program includes current or new supervisors and administrators. Attendance at these sessions should have the support of the college administration.

What are the benefits for me?

In addition to gaining valuable information that will enhance your skills as an administrator, participants successfully completing the course will achieve the following program objectives.

  • Enhance leadership and management skills
  • Foster trust-building and cross-location collaboration
  • Promote innovation and creativity
  • Model best practices across the District

  • June: Meetings That Work

  • Critical Human Resources Policies, Processes and Practices

  • Performance Management and Performance Coaching
  • Strategic Planning
  • Program Evaluation
  • Critical Issues in Student Retention
  • Budgeting
  • Using Data in Decision Making

How do I register?

An employee should contact their supervisor prior to registering for an academy.  For more registration information contact us.

When are classes held?

Classes are

  • Presented two times
  • Scheduled for 3½ hours per session
  • Offered in August, October, January, February, and June of each year

Who will do the training?

All instructors are excellent facilitators who have extensive experience in the subject area. They are:

  • Internal experts among the DCCCD faculty and staff
  • OrgDev staff that have the appropriate certification as trainers
  • Outside consultants and facilitators
