*Online-Internet (INET), Indiv. Distance Learning (IDL), Interactive TV (TVI), Telecourse Plus (TVP) Courses:

Class size will be 15-25 students 

  • Sections should be filled to global capacity of 25. The intent is to fill a section to maximum before opening a new section 

Compensation will be calculated on enrollment certification date (reference source – Colleague screen SINQ; Course example: HIST 1301; field 7: Census Date)

  • With Faculty and College approval, students may be added to a section up to midnight of the day before certification day

Online sections of equal contact hours of instruction with varying start dates may be combined for determination of faculty load and extra service.

  • Sections may be campus-based, Dallas Telecollege, or campus-based sections linked to the Dallas Telecollege
  • Extra service contracts with multiple start dates will be initiated for all sections on the certification date of the last start date

Compensation for 15-25 students:

  • Full time faculty will be paid as part of regular load or extra service contract.  All classes will be set with a global capacity of 25 unless otherwise approved by vice president(s) and president(s)

  • Extra service contracts will be paid according to Board-approved adjunct faculty rates

Compensation for classes less than 15 students:

  • Extra service contracts will be paid 1/15th  of extra service rate times number of students and receive pro-rata load not to exceed 49% of load
  • When teaching section as part of load, full time faculty will receive pro-rata load for the number of students taught

Compensation for classes greater than 25 students:

  • Available only for extra service contracts (not part of faculy load)
  • Extra service contracts, overload an existing section to be paid at 1/26th of the extra service rate up to 12 additional students not to exceed the total of 37 students with prior approval by faculty and dean
  • Regular load faculty sections may be overloaded for extra payment, at president’s approval
  • Faculty may teach more than 25 students in a section as part of load without additional compensation with prior approval by faculty and dean

Compensation for lecture/lab courses paid by extra service contracts will be calculated on number of units of lecture/lab hours per week (reference source:  Colleague screen CRSE; course example: BIOL 1408, detail on Field 22: Offering info. To COFF Lecture and Lab Contact Hours)

Open enrollment sections

Compensation generally will be on extra service contract

  • Sections will be counted in load calculations based on the official certification date of section, unless prior approval by dean and documented on the Supplemental Service Agreement.
  • Any class section that begins and ends within one semester (regardless of class length – 3 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, etc.) is counted toward faculty load for the faculty member in that semester
  • Extenuating circumstances will require written approval by vice president and president for special circumstances
