Procedures:

Workload: The following guidelines are used to calculate the workload for Artists in Residence.

The workload formula is:

10 students (200-level = 3 credit-hour load [20%])
20 students (100-level = 3 credit-hour load [20%])

100-Level Courses 200-Level Courses
20 to 31 students + 4 classes = 100% 10 to 15 students + 4 classes = 100%
01 to 19 students - extra service @ $328.24 per student 01 to 09 students - extra service @ $656.48 per student














May be figured as percentage of full-time load or as supplemental employment.


Compensation: The following guidelines are used to determine extra service or load compensation:

Students enrolled for 200-level applied lessons receive 1.0 lecture hour private lessons per week (1.0 X 16 weeks X $41.03 per hour compensation = $656.48 per semester).
Exceptions To Policy:

*Student Drops: An instructor shall devote the time specified in this column (based on number of student drops) to the performance of the following. Division Dean approval is required.

(1) Recital or concert performance.

(2) Additional lessons to remaining students.

(3) Participation in music juries.

4) Guest lecturer in class or with ensemble.

(5) Assist with recruiting or special projects, such as piano competition and UIL hosting.

(6) Attend student recitals.

(7) Other duties as assigned by the division chairman.
