Salary Issues With Colleague
HROG Section:Compensation
Document Title:Business "Rules/Procedures" Related to Salary Issues in Colleague
Initial Date Posted:Sept. 1, 1999
Applies To:All DCCCD Employees
Source:District Human Resources
Background:

As a result of the Colleague implementation and based on the fact that Colleague salaries include dollars and cents, the following rules have been adopted:

For all new hires (whether faculty, administrative or PSS): All salaries are entered in round dollars. Any reports to the board for new hires would reflect this rounded salary, as would any initial contract given to the new employee.

For continuing employees whose salaries are adjusted as a result of raises, etc.: All salaries reflected are actual rounded to the nearest cent. Budget reports that may be used internally or go to the board will be rounded to the next dollar. According to George Herring, this is what has happened in the past. The budget module in Colleague automatically rounds up salary figures.

Payroll checks for all employees reflect the actual annual salary divided by the appropriate number of months and rounded to the nearest cent.

Contract letters for continuing employees reflect the actual salary after adjustments, including the cents.

Employees who question the "cents" appearing on their monthly checks or in their contract letters will be told that with the new fiscal year and in conjunction with the Colleague conversion, all salaries will be the actual salaries rounded to the nearest cent.

For advertising purposes, the annual salary for the position will be used.
