Applies To:PSS Employees

My position is not scheduled for review until 2010, yet I have experienced significant changes in my job duties.  How can I have my position reviewed?

If you and your supervisor believe that significant changes have occurred in your job duties, your supervisor may initiate a request to District Human Resources for an Ad Hoc Job Evaluation.  For more information, see the Human Resources Operational Guidelines (HROG) at Promotion/Movement Guidelines page.

My position was reviewed through the ad hoc job evaluation process last month, and my title was changed.  Can I participate in the Regular Job Evaluation Process?

No.  Positions that have been reviewed via the ad hoc process within six months of the scheduled Regular Job Evaluation process are not eligible for review.

If my position is reviewed and reslotted in a lower salary range, may I appeal the decision?  Will I experience a decrease in salary?

Your location Cabinet member (generally a President or Vice Chancellor) can appeal decisions on behalf of the location.  Your current salary will not be impacted if your job title is slotted in a lower range.

Does participation in the Regular Job Evaluation Process guarantee me a raise?

No.  The Regular Job Evaluation Process will systematically look at all positions in an assigned range.  As part of that process, District Human Resources will compare your duties and responsibilities as described on your job evaluation questionnaire with the duties on the generic job description form.  Placement of the position in a particular range is determined by a number of factors, such as level of skills, level of education, etc.

What if I have signed and returned the Waiver form and the District Office makes the recommendation to change the slotting of my position.  Will this impact me even if I waived my participation?

Yes, if a change in a job description is recommended and supported by all location Cabinet members who use the position, all incumbents will be affected.

When will changes to my position title/range become effective?

September 1st of the year after the process.  (i.e., all recommended changes for 2007 - 2008 will become effective on September 1, 2008.)

How do I get a questionnaire?

The Regular Job Evaluation process as of May 2007, has become automated and all incumbents holding positions in the range(s) to be reviewed will receive an email with attachments of the required forms.

What if my job duties and responsibilities follow what the current job description states but I feel that it is placed incorrectly on the salary schedule?

The regular job evaluation process is the resource tool to express those concerns and/or opinions and where you can request for a formal review of the job description.  Fill out the job description questionnaire with the emphasis that the position is placed incorrectly on the salary schedule and let District Human Resources make the determination.

What if my current job duties and responsibilities do not follow what the current job description states and I feel that it is placed incorrectly on the salary schedule?

Same response as above.  Participating in the process will allow District Human Resources to review the job description and make a determination.  District Human Resources does not review a title where there is no response from those who hold the job title, thus no action will be taken.

Will my supervisor's comments be shared with me?

Yes.  Your location HR office should make a copy of the forms prior to submission to District HR and provide a copy of the questionnaire.

Can an incumbent get a copy of a previously prepared questionnaire?

Previously completed job evaluation questionnaires are not available.

How will I find out the results?

Once the process is complete, including discussion and approval of the location Cabinet member, incumbents will be notified from District Human Resources via memorandum and automated process.  Please keep in mind that any recommended changes do not become effective until September 1st.

For more information of the Regular Job Evaluation process you can either send an email to DOHR-RJE@dcccd.edu or see the PSS Regular Job Evaluation page.
