Excellent teamwork and service are hallmarks of the Dallas County Community College District. As we begin this new year of service to the citizens of Dallas County, it is time for the District Administration and the Locations to launch the start of the annual awards selection process that concludes with the awards reception and ceremony.
North Lake College is the host college for the 2012 Awards banquet and ceremony to be held in the Spring (Feb. 24th at the Four Season's Hotel & Resort!) This event will celebrate all location awardees and will recognize District-wide award winners in each category.
Submission of Materials for Location Campus Awards
Each location award coordinator will distribute guidelines to all employees at their location calling for open nominations and distributing the selection criteria for each awards category. Each location may adhere to location-specific deadlines. Below is a list of awards coordinators at each location:
Submission of Materials for District-Wide Award
By November 11, 2011, 5 p.m. the location committees will submit all location winners materials to the to the District Human Resources, District Office, either by interoffice mail or by fax: 214-378-1530.

Learning Technology Innovation of the Year
The Learning Technology Innovation of the Year Award is resultant from a recommendation made via the Distance Learning Strategic Planning process during 2007-2008. This award is districtwide and is focused on innovations in learning technology that are scalable, sustainable and replicable with a focus on student success.
Unlike the Innovation of the Year Award, the Learning Technology IOY award is not a "national award" nor is it a replacement for the District's Innovation of the Year award. A district-wide recipient will be honored during the DCCCD's awards reception this spring (early February) and will also receive an trophy/plaque to commemorate the award. The Nominees for the Innovation of the Year may be submitted as nominees for the Learning Technology IOY.
Administrator of the Year
The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding Dallas County Community College's leadership. The candidate must show exceptional dedication and give outstanding leadership and service to the staff, faculty and students of DCCCD. This candidate will exemplify individual or organizational excellence in leadership, as a demonstrated by outstanding initiative, impact of work and inspiration of others and significant contributions to DCCCD.
DCCCD Piper Nominee/Miles Production Company Award
Annually, each college selects a nominee to be submitted for consideration to the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation for the Piper award. The chancellor, with the assistance of the faculty council, selects the recipient of the Miles Production Company Endowment Fund annual award for the DCCCD Outstanding Faculty Member from the location Piper nominees.
Excellence in Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty
Each year, DCCCD locations select one part-time instructor to receive the Excellence in Teaching award. Each location uses a process and criteria they deem appropriate in the selection of their winner. A districtwide winner is selected by the faculty council.
Retiree Hall of Honor Award
Each year one faculty, one administrative retiree and one professional support staff retiree are selected for the Hall of Honor award. The selection criteria and process are administered by District HR.
Innovation of the Year Award
The Innovation of the Year Award was implemented in 1982 by the League for Innovation in Community Colleges. The purpose of the program is to recognize either individual employees or teams who have designed and implemented a significant innovation in the district. Each location selects a nominee to be submitted for consideration for the districtwide award. A cross-section of employees from throughout the district selects the districtwide winner of this award.
Jean Sharon Griffith Student Development Leadership Award
The recipient of this award is selected by the vice presidents of student development from a group of nominees submitted by the colleges. Selection is based on dedication to students and service to the student development areas.
Professional Support Staff Employee of the Year Award
Each year each DCCCD location selects one full-time or limited full-time professional support staff employee to receive the PSS Employee of the Year award for their location. The winner of each location award will then become a nominee for the districtwide award. The winner of the districtwide award is selected by the PSS Executive Council.
Professional Support Staff Part-Time Employee of the Year
Every year each DCCCD location will select one part-time professional support staff employee to receive the PSS part-time employee of the year award for their location. The winner of each location award will be a nominee for the districtwide PSS Part-Time Employee of the Year Award.
