Learn how to better serve DCCC's diverse student population, hear the most current information on topics pertaining to student services and network with your colleagues at the Ninth Annual Advisors Forum.
  
This year’s theme, Promoting Student Success Through… addresses the issues involved in student retention and engagement. Update your information to help facilitate a successful advising experience for DCCC students.

You can look forward to breakout sessions on pertinent advising issues, including:

  • FERPA and Updates on Current Legislation 
  • "Third Attempt" to Enroll in a Course 
  • Advising Probation/Suspension Students
  • Financial Aid/Rising Star/TRIO/VA
  • The Course Applicability System (CAS) - UNT
  • What 4-year colleges/universities want advisors to know about preparing students for transfer
  • Dual Credit/CLEP/Concurrent Enrollment
  • DISD-DCCC Career Pathways Partnership 
  • Update on navigating the DCCC Web site
  • Tech Prep/Vet Tech/Automotive
Dr. Andrew Jones, the DCCC Vice Chancellor of Educational Affairs, and Dr. Martha Hughes, interim president of EFC, will open the conference by welcoming advisors. Hurshel Burton, a member of the BHC English faculty, will speak on student engagement and retention.  Back by popular demand, Dru Bookout, a Speech instructor at RLC, will speak at the afternoon session about avoiding stress and burnout.

This event is free of charge. Sign-in and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. and all events will conclude by 3:00 p.m.

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided and this program may be used for LPC/CEU credit.  Please provide LPC number when responding.
