Admission Requirements for Doctor of Chiropractic Degree Program
All applicants must furnish references and provide complete, official academic transcripts or records of previous enrollment at any higher education institution they have attended, regardless of acceptability toward the degree program. Failure to comply may result in dismissal from TCC or loss of academic credit.
Prospective students may be required to demonstrate a proficiency in oral and written English by scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Contact the Admissions Office for more information.
Preliminary Requirements
A student entering Texas Chiropractic College must have completed two years of pre-chiropractic college work (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) at a regionally accredited college or university. A minimum grade point average (GPA) Of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all college of C (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better. No more than 20 semester hours of a candidate's pre-professional education can be acquired through institutional proficiency examinations such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), American College Training Program (ACT), Program Evaluation Procedure (PEP), DANTES, or institutional departmental examinations. Credits earned in this manner may NOT be applied to any of the science prerequisites in Biology, Chemistry or Physics. (Students should contact the licensing board(s) where they plan to practice in order to check for a pre-chiropractic college licensure requirements, such as Bachelor's degree, that exceed the above requirements.)
Successful applicants must have completed or be able to complete by the term of enrollment the following courses:
*Biological Science: Two semesters (three quarters) w / laboratory. General Biology, Zoology, Anatomy and Physiology acceptable. Botany acceptable, but not recommended. Minimum of six semesters or quarters hours required.
*+General Inorganic Chemistry: Two semesters (three quarters) w / laboratory in sequence, acceptable for pre-professional majors. Minimum of six semester hours or nine quarter hours required.
*+Organic Chemistry: Two semesters (three quarters) w / laboratory in sequence, for pre-professional majors. Minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours required.
*General Physics: Two semesters (three quarters) w / laboratory in sequence, trigonometry based or at a pre-professional level. Minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours required.
English or Communication Skills: 6 semester hours required
General Psychology: 3 semester hours required
Social Sciences / Humanities Electives: 15 semester hours required
Electives: History, Government, English, Literature, Foreign Language, Sociology, Psychology, Drama, Philosophy....Especially recommended is a course in public speaking. NOTE: In addition to above 15 semester hours of Social Sciences and Humanities, course work in computer skills and statistics is strongly recommended.
*Require a grade of "C" or better.
+Texas licensure requires eight semester hours of credit.

A minimum of 60 semester hours is required for acceptance to Chiropractic College, therefore 4 additional elective credit hours are necessary. A minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 is required. "C" is the minimum acceptable grade in all science courses. Students are advised to consult the Admissions Office of Texas Chiropractic College for guidance in understanding required course alternatives and other policies.
