This agreement is between the Cedar Valley College Veterinary Assisting Program (CVC-VA) and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Certified Veterinary Assistant Program (TVMA-CVAP). Cedar Valley College is a member institution in the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD). The CVC-VA curriculum is a college level certificate program approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Intent
The intent of this agreement is to allow students who complete the CVC-VA curriculum to complete examinations to become Certified Veterinary Assistants as required by the TVMA-CVAP.
The parties mutually agree that the linking of the two programs will provide a means for providing credentialing for students who complete a Veterinary Assisting Program through an accredited institution of higher education. In turn, credentialing of these individuals will provide the veterinary profession with a more qualified employment pool that has met standardized requirements as developed by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.
Graduates of the CVC-VA Program will be eligible for credentialing as Certified Veterinary Assistants in Texas.
Terms and Conditions
- Detailed procedures and general policies, reviewed and approved by each party, are outlined and contained in the Articulation materials. This information is available to students, parents, counselors, teachers, and administrators by contacting the CVC-VA Program Director or the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.
- Completion of the CVC-VA curriculum and receipt of the CVC Certificate of Completion will be considered equivalent, but not identical to completion of the requirements for the TVMA-CVAP Level II certificate. (See Appendix 1 for a listing of the CVC-VA curriculum)
- Providing they successfully complete the TVMA-CVAP Level II certification exam, students who complete the CVC-VA curriculum will be waived from completing the TVMA-CVAP Levels I and II and will be allowed to enroll in TVMA-CVAP Level III curriculum directly.
- CVC-VA shall maintain a complete transcript of courses completed at the college per state and regional accrediting body requirements.
- The student must complete a written petition to the executive director of TVMA to be eligible for the TVMA-CVA Level II examination. When submitted, the executive director of TVMA will provide the student with necessary information regarding testing for the Level II CVA certification. The student is responsible for providing the following documents to TVMA:
- CVC-VA Certificate showing successful completion of the curriculum.
- Letter of recommendation from director of the CVC Veterinary Technology Program.
|
- This agreement shall remain in full force and effect during any single academic year. At any point during an academic year, either party may revoke the agreement by giving the other party at least two months written notice prior to the date of desired termination. Neither party is in any way obliged to maintain this agreement beyond a given academic year.
- The renewal of this articulation agreement between TVMA-CVAP and CVC-VA will be subject to biennial review and approval by the TVMA executive director.
- CVC-VA must notify TVMA-CVAP of any proposed change in curriculum within 90 days of the implementation date. If TVMA-CVAP is unsatisfied with the change, the articulation agreement will be voidable at its discretion.
The following parties agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the Cedar Valley College Veterinary Assisting Program (CVC-VA) and Texas Veterinary Medical Association Certified Veterinary Assistant Program (TVMA-CVAP) Articulation Agreement as outlined above:
