University of Phoenix Bachelor of Science in Management Degree

INTRODUCTION

This agreement formally recognizes that the University of Phoenix and Dallas County Community College District are both active educational partners in providing educational opportunities for currently enrolled and potential students of both institutions. Agreement to this partnership requires a commitment by both institutions to facilitate a student's ability to transfer into an undergraduate degree program without jeopardizing the intended mission and stated goals of either institution.

PURPOSE

University of Phoenix and Dallas County Community College District hereby enter into the following agreement governing the matriculation of Dallas County Community College District students to University of Phoenix. This contract shall commence on March 12, 2001. And shall continue until three years from the date of administrative endorsement. This agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of students’ transfer from Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) (including all of the following DCCCD campuses: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake, and Richland) to University of Phoenix (UOP) (including the UOP Dallas Campus).

This agreement is specifically designed to allow for maximum transfer of credit and a seamless transition for students earning an associate degree. Development and distribution of all transfer articulation products (e.g. brochures, checklists or transfer guides) are the responsibility of the University of Phoenix. The University of Phoenix will honor the input from Dallas County Community College District so that the most efficient transfer possible may be achieved for the student.

TRANSFER ELEMENTS

All associate degrees awarded by Dallas County Community College District will transfer to the University of Phoenix as a block of credit, meaning that all associate degree-related courses will automatically transfer. The exception to this is as follows: AAS degrees from these five DCCCD colleges will be accepted in transfer - Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College, El Centro College, Mountain View College, and Richland College. However, all DCCCD students who take core courses within their A.A.S. degree, such core courses will be transferable. The maximum of 72 of these transfer credits will apply to the Bachelor of Science in Management degree. A maximum of 69 transfer credits will apply to all other available bachelors programs.

Students will be admitted into the BSM program upon conferral of an associate degree and satisfaction of all other conditions for admission, as stated in the University of Phoenix Catalog.

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Management program, the associate degree focus will be listed as an area of emphasis on the baccalaureate transcript and diploma.

Representatives from UOP and the DCCCD will meet or make contact during August of each year to update course transfer information to be used the subsequent academic year.

The University of Phoenix will honor this agreement with all associate degree granting institutions currently accredited or in candidacy status by regional or national accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The Dallas County Community College District agrees to notify the University of Phoenix of any adverse changes in its accreditation status of any of its member institutions.

Fulltime employees of the Dallas County Community Colleges are eligible for a 15% tuition discount for the programs offered by the University of Phoenix for the degree offered within this agreement, for the term of this agreement.

Transfer literature for the Bachelor of Science in Management program or any other degree offered at the University of Phoenix, will be provided upon request by contacting the Articulation Department at 480-927-0099 x1263 or email transfer@phoenix.edu..

No financial implications concerning the transfer or exchange of cash, equipment, or real estate is intended or implied by this agreement. The University of Phoenix and Dallas County Community College District are separate and independent institutions of higher education and intend to remain so. The administrators of the University of Phoenix and Dallas County Community College District are authorized to prepare and implement plans of action and procedures necessary to effect this agreement.

AGREEMENT CONTINUATION AND DISSOLUTION

This agreement shall be reviewed on an annual basis or any time program changes are to be made by either institution. Any program changes will be identified and incorporated into subsequent agreements. The UOP President and the DCCCD Chancellor, or their designees must approve amendments to this agreement. Any other modifications to this agreement may be made following written notice from the DCCCD Chancellor and the UOP President, or their designees. This agreement will be in effect for three years from the date of administrative endorsement or August 2004, whichever is earlier. Renewal of agreement with appropriate content changes will be discussed at the end of this time period. Transfer literature will be updated on an annual basis. The University of Phoenix will honor this agreement with all institutions currently accredited or in candidacy status by regional or national accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
