An Articulation Agreement between
The University of Texas at Tyler and Dallas County Community College District

Statement of Purpose:

The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) offers courses of study leading to baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees.  Dallas County Community College District provides coursework at the freshman and sophomore levels which leads to various certificates and associates degrees.  In an effort to maximize the resources available through UT Tyler and Dallas County Community College District, this Articulation Agreement is intended to create a seamless transfer process, support concurrent enrollment when appropriate, and assist students in completing their educational objectives.

Additionally, the purpose of this Agreement is to provide guidelines and areas of responsibility ensuring that students completing courses at Dallas County Community College District will be able to transfer courses to UT Tyler without loss of credit or recognition for approved courses.

In order to establish and improve the transfer process for our mutual students, we agree to the terms and conditions below.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. This Articulation Agreement becomes effective upon signing by both institutions and either may publicize the partnership or any successful collaboration between the two (2) institutions resulting from the initiatives within this agreement. Copies of press releases relating to any part of this Agreement must be made available to the designated News and Information/Public Relations Office at the partnering institution.
  2. This Articulation Agreement will be reviewed every three (3) years and any amendments must be proposed in writing and obtain approval from the President at each institution, or their designees.
  3. This Articulation Agreement shall remain effective until one (1), or both, institutions deem it necessary to terminate it.  The desire to terminate the Agreement must be submitted in writing to the President of the partnering institution.
  4. Both institutions will designate individuals who will be responsible for the maintenance of this Agreement.  In the event that the designated individuals are no longer available to perform this duty, their replacement will be communicated in writing to the other institution but will not require a renegotiation of the Agreement.
  5. Each institution will promote and encourage discussions with the respective academic administrators, department chairs, and/or degree-specific program coordinators at the partnering institution in order to explore the development of joint enrollment initiatives and 2+2 Agreements.  When such agreements are created, a separate transfer course equivalency guide and transfer agreement will be developed, approved, and signed by the designated officials at each institution.
  6. Dallas County Community College District students who desire to transfer to UT Tyler must meet the same standards and criteria for admission to major degree sequence as a native UT Tyler student.
  7. UT Tyler will encourage Dallas County Community College District transfer students to complete the appropriate Associate’s Degree either before matriculation to UT Tyler or by reverse transfer of course credit following admission to and attendance at UT Tyler.   UT Tyler will provide DCCCD with detailed statistics of DCCCD students who graduate from their university.
  8. UT Tyler agrees to provide transfer students with information regarding the availability of transfer scholarships for eligible students as well as other financial aid opportunities at UT Tyler.
  9. Representatives from UT Tyler and Dallas County Community College District will meet or make contact at least once per year to exchange course catalogs and discuss current transfer admission information to be used during the subsequent academic year.
  10. Dallas County Community College District will publicize and help facilitate campus visits by UT Tyler recruiters and will prominently display UT Tyler posters and literature.
  11. All required notices, requests, and other communications shall be made in writing and considered provided to the partnering institution either when personally delivered or mailed to the respective contacts shown below.
  12. This Articulation Agreement shall be filed with the Offices of the President and Provosts at both institutions as well as with the Admissions and Registrar’s Offices at each institution.

Agreement Maintenance:
