Memorandum of Understanding
Between
Dallas County Community College District
And
The University of North Texas at Dallas

This memorandum of understanding (MOU) is made between the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) and the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNTD) and sets forth an agreement to seek ways of collaborating that is mutually beneficial to our institutions and in the best interest of our students and communities.

Purpose of the MOU

The purpose of this MOU is to formalize an agreement to promote and foster collaborative working relationships between the colleges that form part of the DCCCD system and the University of North Texas at Dallas. Given that the DCCCD and UNT Dallas are institutions of higher learning serving Dallas and Ellis Counties and the greater D/FW region, by working together we can more effectively increase educational attainment and gainful employment of our residents. Through this agreement, we can better leverage resources, more efficiently facilitate seamless transfer of students seeking bachelor’s, master’s, and/or specialized certificate programs, foster collegial relations among faculty, staff, and administrators, and support creative joint academic ventures and extramural funding, among other intents.

Duration of the MOU

This MOU will commence as of the date signed by executives from both institutions and will remain in full force and effect until canceled by either institution with ninety days written notice to the other party.

Mutual Understanding

Dallas County Community College District and the University of North Texas at Dallas agree to work together to support the following common objectives:

  1. Develop articulation agreements for the seamless transfer of students between the two institutions, once UNTD is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  2. Sponsor a variety of meetings among the faculties of UNTD and the various colleges comprising DCCCD.
  3. Leverage and maximize fiscal and human resources
  4. Develop seamless transferring procedures for teacher education, business administration, human service management, mathematics information technology, and sociology, focusing on the core requirements of each area.
  5. Maximize student success through articulation of coursework and higher education experiences
  6. Optimize outcomes assessment by faculty workshops across like disciplines
  7. Collaborate on external funding possibilities
  8. Foster the completion rates of the DCCCD degree programs by such mechanisms as reverse transfer and others.
  9. Create joint, well-articulated programs that build upon one another leading from the associate’s degree to the bachelor’s degree.

Note: Remedial/developmental or technical/vocational courses will not be included for transfer in this General Articulation Agreement from DCCCD colleges unless specified by individual colleges in a Program-to-Program Articulation Agreement.

Entirety Clause

This MOU sets forth the entire agreement of the parties relating to their affiliation and no change or modification of this MOU is binding unless in writing and signed by the parties.
