Articulation Agreement Between Dallas County Community College District and Tarleton State University Developed Through the West Central Texas TWO-STEP Project

The purpose of this articulation agreement is to provide opportunities for students completing the Associate in Applied Sciences degree from Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) to continue in their academic coursework and complete a Bachelor’s degree at Tarleton State University (TSU). The Associate in Applied Sciences degree from Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College, El Centro College, Mountain View College, and Richland College will transfer. However, all DCCCD students who take core courses within their A.A.S. degree, such core courses will be transferable.
DCCCD and TSU are entering into this articulation agreement to facilitate the seamless transfer of students between the two institutions. DCCCD students who complete Associate in Applied Sciences degrees at DCCCD are eligible for credit by articulation at TSU. Under the terms covered by this agreement*, DCCCD students may transfer into TSU degree programs in either:

Business Occupations leading to a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree.

Business Administration leading to a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS) degree.

Industrial Occupations- leading to a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree.

Clinical Laboratory Science – leading to a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS) degree. DCCCD students who transfer to TSU are eligible to receive credit for the following courses under the terms of this agreement:
TSU will accept DCCCD students’ transferable core curriculum and lower division community college courses within the Texas common course numbering system. DCCCD courses eligible for transfer are listed on the attached Schedule I.
TSU will accept:
- up to 36 credit hours of selected WECM courses in selected DCCCD degree programs toward the BAAS degree in Business Occupations.
- up to 27 credit hours of selected WECM courses in selected DCCCD degree programs toward the BSAS degree in Business Administration.
- up to 48 credit hours of selected WECM courses in selected DCCCD degree programs toward the BAAS degree in Industrial Occupations.
- up to 24 credit hours of selected WECM courses in selected DCCCD degree programs toward the BSAS degree in Clinical Laboratory Science.
| DCCCD WECM (Workforce Education Course Manual) courses eligible for transfer are identified by area of specialization on the attached Schedule II.
*Although not covered by this agreement, other occupational areas of specialization leading to a BAAS degree are possible. Interested students are encouraged to contact an academic advisor at TSU for appropriate advisement and approvals.
To claim credits at TSU under this agreement, a student must satisfy the following requirements:
- Complete or agree to complete an AAS degree from DCCCD and establish a bachelor’s degree plan at TSU by working with a TSU Academic Advisor.
- Earn a minimum overall G.P.A. of 2.0.
- Complete at least 32 of the hours required for a TSU bachelor’s degree in residence at TSU and satisfy other established residence requirements.
- Complete a minimum of 36 advanced hours (300-400 level coursework) to satisfy BAAS degree requirements and 45 advanced hours to satisfy BSAS degree requirements.
| The following additional provisions are incorporated into this agreement:
- DCCCD is accredited by SACSCOC, and all DCCCD instructors of courses included in this program are in compliance with criteria as described in Section 4.8 of the SACSCOC Criteria for Accreditation.
- Representatives of DCCCD and TSU will meet or make contact annually to update this agreement.
- By approving this agreement, DCCCD and TSU assure students that courses in the programs listed are freely transferable between DCCCD and TSU.
| This agreement:
- represents an approved articulation agreement between DCCCD and TSU.
- shall commence when it has been approved by the Presidents of both institutions
- shall remain effective until terminated via execution of a written request by either party providing a one (1) year notice.
- shall continue until such time as either or both institutions wish to terminate it. In the event this agreement is terminated, both institutions agree to make completion provisions for individual students participating in the program at the time of termination.
