Statement of purpose:

Dallas County Community College District (hereafter referred to as "DCCCD") - including all of the following DCCCD campuses: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake, and Richland - and Sul Ross State University hereby agree to an educational partnership to create a seamless transfer process for students transferring the DCCCD’s associate degrees into baccalaureate major-based degree programs at Sul Ross State University.

Terms and conditions:

In order to establish and improve the transfer process for our mutual students, we agree to the following:

DCCCD students who follow the recommended program of study – 42 credit hours of DCCCD common core and transfer curriculum - and who meet all other admissions requirements will receive admission to Sul Ross State University. Transfer students must meet the same standards and criteria for admission to a major degree sequence as a native Sul Ross State University student.

DCCCD and Sul Ross State University will jointly develop transfer guides, transfer admission and course equivalency guides, utilizing both DCCCD and Sul Ross State University course numbers. By creating these guides, DCCCD and Sul Ross State University assure students that courses listed in these guides are freely transferable between the two institutions.

Representatives from DCCCD and Sul Ross State University will meet or make contact during July of each year to exchange course catalogs and update course equivalencies, transfer guides and transfer admission information to be used the subsequent academic year.

A student transferring to Sul Ross State University under this agreement will have definite acceptance of DCCCD academic credit hours, with the following conditions:

1. Transfer students will receive academic credit for transferable college level courses only, completed with a grade of "C" or better. Remedial and developmental courses will not be accepted in transfer.
2. The student must have the following GPA requirements: For less than 15 hours, a 1.0 GPA is required. For 15 to 44 hours, a 1.25 GPA is required, for 60 to 74 hours, 1.75 is required, for more than 75 hours a 2.0 is required.
3. Transfer students must earn 33 credit hours in residence at Sul Ross State University.
4. Sul Ross State University will accept a Total of 66 transfer credit hours from DCCCD.

Agreement continuation and dissolution:

This agreement will be reviewed every two years, or any time changes are to be made by either institution. The DCCCD Chancellor and Sul Ross State University President, or their designees must approve amendments to this agreement. This agreement is effective upon signing by the involved parties, and each is free to publicize this partnership in a manner consistent with the agreement. This articulation agreement shall remain effective until one, or both, institutions deem it necessary to terminate it.
