Articulation Agreement
between
Fort Hays State University
and
Dallas County Community College District

The Transfer Agreement and Articulation Guide has been developed to facilitate the transition of students with academic credit at Dallas County Community College District to Fort Hays State University.

Requirements for Bachelor of General Studies Matriculation


  1. The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree requires 124 hours of credit including the following components: A minimum of 80 hours of coursework in the following liberal arts and science areas: art, biological sciences, chemistry, communication, economics, English, geosciences, history, information networking and telecommunications, interdisciplinary studies, justice studies, leadership studies, mathematics and psychology, sociology and social work. 
    • A minimum of 45 hours of upper-division coursework (numbered 300 and above at FHSU)
    • A maximum of 40 hours in one department
    • Six hours of English composition
    • A minimum of 12 hours of approved general education courses in each of the areas of humanities, natural sciences and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences with at least 3 departments represented in each area
    • A minimum grade index of 2.00 for all coursework, and coursework at FHSU, A minimum of 30 hours of credit from FHSU
    • A 21 hour individualized area of concentration
    • 3-hour computer literacy course or suitable equivalent
  2. Students must have been admitted to Dallas County Community College District and satisfy all FHSU admission and degree requirements.

  3. All prior coursework transferred into FHSU to be applied to the BGS degree will need to meet the above requirements.

  4. Credit for equivalent technical courses may be granted by departmental examination at the discretion of FHSU.

  5. Those students interested in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees are strongly advised to consider the requirements section for other degrees in the FHSU university catalog.


  6. FHSU tuition and fees are established annually by the Kansas Board of Regents and publicized by FHSU.

Note: Remedial/developmental or technical/vocational courses will not be included for transfer in this General Articulation Agreement from DCCCD colleges unless specified by individual colleges in a Program-to-Program Articulation Agreement.
