This transfer credit agreement is between THE TEXAS A&M University System Health Science Center (“HSC”) on behalf of Baylor College of Dentistry (“BCD”), Caruth School of Dental Hygiene (“CSDH”) and Dallas County Community College District (“DCCCD”).  

PURPOSE OF GUARANTEE  

To provide an opportunity for students who have identified dental hygiene as a career choice to be informed of the courses offered through DCCCD which will fulfill the specific course prerequisites for the BCD, CSDH.  When satisfactorily completed, these courses will also fulfill the Associate in Arts and Associate in Sciences degrees requirements for DCCCD.  Upon acceptance and successful completion of the dental hygiene curriculum, a BS degree in Dental Hygiene will be awarded by HSC and BCD, CSDH.  

Note: Remedial/developmental or technical/vocational courses will not be included for transfer in this General Articulation Agreement from DCCCD colleges unless specified by individual colleges in a Program-to-Program Articulation Agreement. 

ADMISSIONS POLICY  

  1. Student applies and is admitted to a DCCCD College.
  2. The student must take or have taken the SAT or ACT or be exempt from the test by DCCCD.
  3. The student is strongly encouraged to contact BCD, CSDH in order to become aware of the program curriculum, specific requirements, and the nature of the professional education atmosphere.  It is imperative that the student obtain the most current listing of prerequisites for the dental hygiene program.   The prerequisites and additional information about the program can be accessed through BCD’s website at http://www.tambcd.edu.  This information and application materials may also be requested from the BCD Office of Recruitment and Admissions at 214-828-8231.
  4. The admissions process for entry into the BCD, CSDH is competitive. Students must complete the 60 semester-hours of prerequisites and demonstrate through their overall GPA and science GPA that they can succeed in the program.  An interview is granted to students who have a strong academic history and admission is limited by the number of available positions in the class.
  5. Students must complete all other admissions requirements as specified in the HSC catalog for the BCD CSDH.
  6. The student must have no felony convictions barring the student from holding a dental hygiene license in the State of Texas.
  7. The student enters a curriculum designed by DCCCD that must include the course requirements found in attached Addendum A, Program Description.

REVISION OF JOINT AGREEMENT  

Revision of this joint agreement may be initiated by either party.  Students participating in the agreement will be notified of any change in course requirements as soon as possible to aid them in meeting the requirements in a timely manner.    This agreement replaces all previous agreements and will commence on July 1, 2008 and terminate at midnight on June 30, 2013.   The parties are signing this agreement on the date stated below.
