Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
Between
College of the Southwest
and
Dallas County Community College District

Purpose

The articulation agreement is designed to coordinate transfer policies, enhance advising and promote the acceptance of the programmatic transfer of courses/credits/degrees between the College of the Southwest and Dallas County Community College District.

Terms of the Agreement

A.     Admission Policies

  1. College of the Southwest (CSW) will accept applications from students who wish to transfer from Dallas County Community College District into any related baccalaureate degree program.  Transferring applicants should meet the same admissions criteria as other students applying for admission to CSW.
  2. Students who have completed or will complete an AA or AS degree from Dallas County Community College District by the time they enroll in classes at CSW will be exempted from paying the CSW application fee.
  3. Students of Dallas County Community College District who graduate with an AA or AS degree and are applying to a related degree program at CSW and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 are guaranteed admission to CSW.  Once admitted, students are subject to all other policies, procedures and services outlined in the CSW catalog.
  4. Dallas County Community College District is a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

B.    Acceptance and Application of Credits

  1. The maximum number of transfer credits accepted from Dallas County Community College District (AA or AS) will equal the minimum number of credits required to complete the specific degree program.  Therefore, all courses required of the AA or AS degree will be articulated into the bachelor’s program in their entirety.  The transfer of additional course work will be evaluated on a course by course basis.
  2. Students from Dallas County Community College District will have their entire degree program transferred in, including C and D grades, allowing the students to complete their related degree programs at CSW in two years of full-time study.
  3. Students from Dallas County Community College District must earn 61 hours of credit from CSW and obtain a minimum of 3.0 GPA in their major and minor, a 2.0 in their institutional work, and a 2.0 overall in order to earn a bachelor’s degree.
  4. CSW will evaluate courses/credits earned through Advanced Placement (AP), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) or other testing programs.  CSW will also evaluate courses/credits earned from other four year institutions.  Students seeking credit for these courses must provide the Registrar’s Office with official transcripts for evaluation.

C.    Update/Report/Relationship

CSW and Dallas County Community College District agree to review the articulation agreement as needed.  CSW and Dallas County Community College District will designate an individual to serve as liaison for the purposes of monitoring this agreement.  Each institution will provide updated catalogs.

D.    Amendments and Term of Effect

  1. The Dallas County Community College District curriculum in effect at the time a student first enrolled will be honored by CSW if the student completed an AA or AS degree and successfully transfers to CSW within four (4) years of that enrollment.
  2. This agreement may be amended, as necessary, for specific program articulation without affecting the master agreement.
  3. The master agreement will remain in effect until terminated by either party on ninety (90) days prior written notice.
  4. In the event that this agreement is terminated, the terms of the agreement contained herein will remain in effect for a maximum transitional period of two (2) years to accommodate students already enrolled under the agreement.
