Texas Woman's University-Concurrent Admissions Agreement

In order to facilitate the process of student transfer and to foster academic relationships between our institutions, Texas Woman’s University (TWU) and Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) have agreed to the following Concurrent Admissions Agreement, hereafter called the TWU BOUND Program.

Dallas County Community College District students who meet Texas Woman’s University admission requirements or complete the Associate or Arts or Associate of Science degree will receive automatic admission to Texas Woman’s University. A student may apply for concurrent admission status at the time of first enrollment at any DCCCD institution, or at any time thereafter when enrolled at DCCCD, by completing a TWU BOUND Program Application. The student’s formal application to TWU will be activated when the student has completed the transfer Texas Common Application for Admission (paper or electronic version) within 12 months of anticipated enrollment at TWU and when the university determines that the student meets the TWU transfer admission requirements.

The institutions will collaborate to initiate and update appropriate articulation agreements between TWU and DCCCD. These agreements will be made available to DCCCD students through both institutions’ websites, as well as a printed version provided by TWU for distribution to DCCCD students.

The institutions will work together to provide appropriate transfer guides utilizing the Texas Common Course Numbering System to identify the courses to be completed at DCCCD that will transfer to TWU. Special attention will be given to courses that will apply toward pre-requisites or requirements for a major at TWU.

TWU will designate scholarships to be awarded to qualified TWU BOUND students upon transfer to TWU. These may include, but will not be limited to: New Transfer Student Scholarships, Rising Star Scholarships, Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships, Honors Scholarships, New International Student Scholarships, Good Neighbor Scholarships, Reitch Scholarships, and/or departmental scholarships.

TWU BOUND students will receive the following student benefits at TWU with a TWU BOUND student identification card:

  1. Access to TWU library
  2. Ten complimentary visits to the TWU Wellness Center, including use of fitness room, swimming pool, racquet ball courts, indoor walking/jogging track, and standard aerobics classes
  3. Student discount rate at the TWU golf course
  4. Complimentary admission to all TWU Home Pioneer Athletic events, including softball, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, and soccer
  5. Student or reduced guest room rate at TWU residence halls.
  6. Free use of Cyber-Lounge and computer lab in the Student Center
  7. Free transportation on the Denton Link
  8. Discounted student ticket rates to TWU performing art productions, area theme parks, activities, etc.
  9. Student Center affiliate rate for private room rentals

TWU will provide expanded opportunities for TWU BOUND students to learn about TWU, including special mailings, visits to DCCCD campuses by TWU representatives, and hosting on-campus events for DCCCD students.

TWU will hold on-site admissions events (TEAM visits) at DCCCD campuses at least once a year. Application fees may be waived at these events for DCCCD students providing all necessary documents, including official transcripts, are presented at that TEAM visit. International students will pay a reduced application fee of $20 at these events.

TWU and DCCCD will develop a smooth transition for qualified students wishing to enter the TWU Honors Program. Consideration for acceptance to the TWU Honors Program requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better after the first 24 hours of college course work or completion of the DCCCD Honors Program. The TWU Honors Program director will work with DCCCD to determine an appropriate number of honors credits that will count toward the total number of honors credits required for Honors recognition upon graduation from TWU.

TWU will make every effort to accommodate requests from DCCCD officials to teach upper-level and graduate courses on DCCCD campuses when space is available.

Faculty and/or administrators representing DCCCD and TWU will meet annually to assess the TWU BOUND program and develop additional options to this agreement.

TWU and DCCCD officials will collaborate to share pertinent information and statistics about TWU BOUND students.

This agreement shall become effective Fall 2003 and shall remain in effect until terminated by either party. Termination can be processed when either DCCCD or TWU gives written notice to the other institution 180 days prior to the requested termination date.

In witness whereof, the authorized representatives of the parties have executed this agreement on this the 3rd day of October, 2003.
