Texas Southern University - Concurrent Admissions Agreement

Texas Southern University
and
Dallas County Community College District
Concurrent Admissions Agreement

In order to facilitate the process of student transfer, the Texas Southern University (TSU) and Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) have agreed to the following Concurrent Admissions Agreement.

Dallas County Community College District students who meet Texas Southern University admission requirements or complete the Associate of Arts/Science degree, will receive automatic admission to the Texas Southern University. A student may apply for concurrent admission status at the time of first enrollment at any DCCCD institution, or at any time thereafter when enrolled at DCCCD, by completing a TSU Concurrent Admissions Application. The student’s formal application to TSU will be activated when the student has completed the transfer Texas Common Application for Admission (paper or electronic version) within 12 months of anticipated enrollment at TSU and when the university determines that the student meets the TSU transfer admission requirements.

The institutions will work together to provide appropriate transfer guides utilizing the Texas Common Course Numbering System to identify the courses to be completed at DCCCD that will transfer to TSU. Special attention will be given to courses that will apply toward prerequisites or requirements for a major at TSU.

Concurrent admission students will have access to the Texas Southern University Library.  Concurrent admission students will have the right to purchase tickets to athletic and other selected events on the TSU campus at the student guest rate.

Texas Southern University will provide additional opportunities for Dallas County Community College District students to learn about TSU scholarships.  The University will host events for DCCCD Rising Star Scholars and others interested in learning about how one can afford to complete a bachelor’s degree.

TSU on-site admissions events will be held at all DCCCD colleges at least once a year.

TSU will provide DCCCD institutions with annual data reports that include information about the academic performance of former Dallas County Community College District students enrolled at Texas Southern University as permitted under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

TSU officials will work with DCCCD officials to find ways to share information about students enrolled at TSU who could have sufficient hours to receive an associate’s degree from DCCCD.

This agreement shall be in effect June 29, 2006 and shall remain in effect until terminated by either party. Termination can be processed when either TSU or DCCCD give written notice to the other institution 180 days prior to the requested termination date.

In witness whereof, the authorized representatives of the parties have executed this agreement on this day of June 29, 2006.
