Dallas Baptist University-Articulation Agreement

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Dallas County Community College District and Dallas Baptist University hereby enter into the following agreement governing the matriculation of Dallas County Community College District students to Dallas Baptist University. This contract shall commence on March 2001. And shall continue until such time as either or both institutions wish to terminate it. This agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of students’ transfer from Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) (including all of the following DCCCD campuses: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake, and Richland) to Dallas Baptist University (DBU).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

In order to facilitate and improve the transfer process for our mutual students, DCCCD and DBU hereby enter into the following agreement:

DCCCD students who follow the recommended program of study – the common core and transfer curriculum, and who meet all other admissions requirements shall be eligible for admission to DBU. Transfer students must meet the same standards and criteria for admission to a major degree sequence as a native DBU student.

DBU and DCCCD will jointly develop Transfer Guides, Transfer Admission, and Course Equivalency Guides, utilizing both DBU and DCCCD numbers for all majors offered at DBU. By creating these guides DBU and DCCCD assure students that courses listed in these guides are freely transferable between DBU and DCCCD.

Representatives from DBU and the DCCCD will meet or make contact during August of each year to update course equivalencies, transfer guides and transfer admission information to be used the subsequent academic year.

A student transferring to DBU under this agreement shall have acceptance of academic credit hours earned at DCCCD, with the following condition that the curricular and general conditions be met:

  1. Transfer students will receive academic credit for transferable college level courses only completed with a grade of "C" or better. Remedial and developmental courses will not be accepted in transfer.
  2. Applicants with less that 30 hours of acceptable credit must furnish high school transcripts or official GED scores and results of an ACT or SAT examination. Transfer applicants who will be 25 years of age or older on the first day of classes in the semester for which application is made are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores.
  3. The student must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 for admission to DBU. (Some majors may require a higher G.P.A. for admission.)
  4. Students must earn 30 of the last 36 hours in residence at DBU and 32 hours must be taken in residence at DBU.
  5. DBU shall accept a maximum of 66 credit hours will be accepted in transfer from DCCCD.

AGREEMENT CONTINUATION AND DISSOLUTION

This agreement shall be reviewed on an annual basis or any time program changes are to be made by either institution. Any program changes will be identified and incorporated into subsequent agreements. The DCCCD Chancellor and the DBU President, or their designees must approve amendments to this agreement. Any other modifications to this agreement may be made following written notice from the DCCCD Chancellor and the DBU President, or their designees. Once this agreement is signed by the appropriate officials at DCCCD and DBU, each is free to publicize this arrangement in a manner consistent with the agreement. This articulation agreement shall remain in effect until one or both institutions deem it necessary to terminate it.

By signing each party recognizes the commitment to exchange only the most current and accurate information. This agreement may be terminated by either party by giving written notice of said party’s intention to the Chancellor of the DCCCD or his designee and the DBU President, or his designee.

This agreement shall be in effect beginning March 2001.
