Rising Star Reception
The Rising Star Program hosted their first annual High School Partners Come and Go Reception at the Bill J. Priest Campus of El Centro College on June 12th.  The event included a reception and gifts in appreciation to our Dallas County High School Counselors, CATE Instructors, Athletic Directors, Rising Star Program Coordinators and Advisors and our most vital group, current and former DCCCD students for their participation and contribution in the Rising Star Program.

Students ranged from Rising Star first year students to graduates who received Associate, Bachelor and Masters Degrees and one current employee slated to become a Rising Star Director at one of our colleges.  They expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to be a part of this extraordinary program, which helped finance their education.

Mary Greely-Miller, District Director of the Rising Star Program,  acknowledged the value of having such a program to assist DCCCD students in their educational journey. Rising Star Advisors and Coordinators received praise for their exceptional support in making sure the students receive proper guidance as they pursue their education and career aspirations.

W. G. Garland, Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs resides at the helm of the Rising Star Program, and believes we need more success stories to reveal how the program has enhanced its effectiveness in achieving the goals for the District.

The High School Partners Reception will partner with other VCEA departments and become an annual event to continue showing appreciation to Rising Star Program participants.  Please see photo gallery of the reception.
