NCTTPC and Texas State Agencies Set Priorities for Tech Prep
Lauren English, Director of the North Central Texas Tech Prep Consortium
Tech Prep is a locally controlled process led by a collaboration of Texas state agencies including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as predominant partners.
As Tech Prep enters another year funding, the state agency partners have worked with Tech Prep directors from the twenty-five statewide consortia in establishing the following goals or priorities in the months and years to come. Of the seven goals that follow, the first three were identified as priorities for the 1998-99 academic year.
- Goal 1: Develop standard articulations and articulation policies such that schools and colleges accomplish awarding credit in a similar manner.
-
Goal 2: Identify Tech Prep students upon their entry into post-secondary study, facilitate their transition, and empower the student for continued success at their next stage of education.
-
Goal 3: Expand the evaluation process of Tech Prep to do a longitudinal study to ensure long-term effectiveness of program implementation.
