The safety of town, city, and county residents and businesses is ensured by police patrol officers. Officers understand criminal law, local, state and federal laws, and techniques in investigating and restraining those who violate those laws. Patrol officers may walk, be on horseback, ride bicycles, motorcycles, or automobiles, or may even fly helicopters. They work closely with correction officers and investigators to help ensure justice and preserve safety.
