Evaluating the Student Learning in the Core Curriculum 2004-2009

College plans to evaluate student learning outcomes in the Core Curriculum were developed with widespread involvement from faculty at all seven DCCCD colleges. The colleges of the DCCCD are accredited individually by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The colleges completed their separate SACS reviews in 2002, and work on assessment of learning in educational programs was already well underway. Committees first considered assessment activities which were already in practice. The committees, with broad-based involvement from college faculty, developed plans to assess achievement of Intellectual Competencies and Exemplary Educational Objectives over the period from 2004-2009. The charge to each college committee was that by Spring 2009, colleges would have evaluated student achievement of competencies and objectives in all component areas.
