Eastfield College

The Core Curriculum Evaluation Committee, together with Eastfield College faculty and Discipline Coordinators, conducted a comprehensive and systematic review of each of the eighty-eight courses in the Core Curriculum per each of the six Core Component areas, as outlined in the Eastfield College plan (pdf 31kb). The Committee conducted a college-wide Course-Based Assessment Review which involved:

  1. Review of each course listed in the DCCCD matrices per Component area;
  2. Development of a chart listing relevant Exemplary Educational Objectives embedded within Intellectual Competencies for each course;
  3. Development of a corresponding chart of Assessment Plans with Timelines and Assessment Criteria for each course; and
  4. Notation of courses not selected for Core Curriculum Evaluation.

The Eastfield College Core Curriculum Evaluation plan addresses five (5) years of Assessment and Evaluation beginning in the Fall of 2004 and continuing on a semester-by-semester basis through Fall 2009. Specific Assessment Plans vary according to component disciplines and include a variety of assessments from portfolios to visual presentations and from oral presentations to instructor-developed examinations.   Faculties in the individual component areas have selected specific semesters to conduct formal assessments but also have identified semesters to review assessment, to develop and design alternative assessments, and to evaluate the courses in the Core Curriculum. Throughout the Component Areas, every Intellectual Competency embedded through the Educational Exemplary Objectives is addressed and cited for assessment for a minimum of one semester throughout the five-year period.  Many courses will be evaluated each Fall Semester or each Spring Semester from 2004-2009.
