The new Core Curriculum (PDF – 201KB), approved by the DCCCD Board of Trustees in February 2009, will begin in Fall 2010. Throughout the 2009-2010 academic year, members of Core Curriculum committees will work with faculty and staff to design and implement all aspects of the program so the entire DCCCD community is prepared to move forward with the district’s Core.
The Core Curriculum Steering Team (PDF – 121KB) coordinates the work of nine Core committees — listed by committee (PDF – 39KB) and by college (PDF – 36KB) — and facilitates interdisciplinary work to implement the new Core. Thereafter, the steering team will provide ongoing support to refine, assess and revise the Core. Recommendations for implementation and future revisions of the Core will be given to the Vice Presidents Council.
Forums will be conducted at every college in October for faculty, staff, administrators and students. These “EXPLORE the CORE” forums will give members of the college community an opportunity to ask questions about the new Core and implementation initiatives. Student forums will be conducted at each college in November.
