Core 2009

Welcome to the Web page for Core 2009. The Core 2009 committee (PDF - 61KB) is a group of 14 faculty and two administrators from diverse disciplines, representing all seven of the DCCCD colleges. The committee’s charges include the examination of the existing DCCCD Core Curriculum. The Core 2009 committee has been asked to consider what students in 2009 and beyond will need to know and be able to do when they complete the DCCCD Core Curriculum.

Among the many foundational resources important to the faculty who review a core curriculum, none is more important than the legislation which created the Texas core curriculum. The Core 2009 committee meets to discuss learning outcomes which will prepare students for successful lives, careers, and civic engagement in the global society of the 21st century.

On this Web site, you will find information that will alert you to upcoming topics of discussion in committee meetings and the dates and locations of forums which will be held on campuses across the DCCCD. We will also post monthly progress reports so you can stay apprised of the work that is under way.
