Core 2009

The Core 2009 Committee (PDF - 106KB) charged with reviewing and making recommendations for the DCCCD Core Curriculum, has finished conducting research, analyzing feedback, discussing all options and making changes to the Revised Draft.

The committee’s charges (PDF - 310KB) include the release of a the Core 2009 Curriculum Recommendations (PDF - 235KB) and all research to the VP Council at their November meeting.  The VP Council will receive, review, and present the Core 2009 Curriculum Recommendations to the Chancellor’s Staff, The Board of Trustees and the THECB for approval.  Upon approval, Interdisciplinary Committees will be convened along with Discipline Committees to implement the recommendations.

A summary of all Forum data, including the final forums held on October 29 and 30, is posted in the Progress Reports and Forum summaries to the right. The committee carefully considered the concerns and support expressed in the forums and the Feedback posted at this site.

Responses prepared for each Discipline Committee that submitted Feedback during the review process are posted on this Web page.  Information in the following links provides rationale for the Core 2009 Curriculum Recommendations:

The Core 2009 committee will not finish its work until an effective process for regular, ongoing review and revision of the Core curriculum is designed.  This process is intended to make the Core responsive to the needs of future students, changing THECB regulations and insights from faculty and staff.

Thank you for your participation in the Core Curriculum review process and your commitment to student success.

A description of the process for review by the DCCCD community and revisions by the Core 2009 committee can be viewed here. A summary of committee activities and input collected at forums are posted here.
The Core 2009 Committee carefully reviewed all of the Feedback submitted, identified options for revisions and discussed whether each option would operate in the best interest of our students. Responses to Discipline Committee Feedback, an overview of the discussion and the decisions made by the Core 2009 committee, are posted here.
