May - George Merida

photo of George Merida

George Merida has exhibited several of the characteristics on the list. He provides good and needed service for which he should be recognized.

Creativity – George responds to facilities requests for setup and room arrangements with attention to detail. He is helpful in working with the requested floor plan or arrangements. However, because of his experience as well as his desire to accommodate participants and guests in an activity, George uses his creativity to provide suggestions for moving furniture or placing room items until the facility feels and looks comfortable. He will work up to the last minute to rearrange a setting in order to achieve room space that allows accessibility and people interaction. In his quiet manner, he mentally creates and physically makes it happen.

Effectiveness – George is efficient and effective. He monitors the calendar of scheduled events and sends effective notifications about changes. If a mistake occurs, George takes responsibility for his actions and works to correct problems. He is always alert to what may be happening before and after an event and communicates what is relevant in that context to assist fellow employees with planning activities that rely on facilities for success.

Focus – When George is working on a project, the project has his full attention. He looks at details and provides information about potential problems or situations that may interfere with achieving desired results. George becomes acquainted with the rules or parameters of a project and follows guidelines. His coworkers can depend on him to assess situations based on facts and what is needed rather than guesswork. He helps to round out the 701 facilities group with his philosophy of teamwork and service.
