March - Pam Hardman

Creativity
Pam is in a new position, working in a fairly new, automated student accounting system. She uses her thorough knowledge of Colleague and degree audit policy to suggest and design shortcuts to make the job of degree audit personnel better.

Her approach must be creative as the issues (challenges) have never come up before.

Determination
It takes accuracy, perseverance and determination to write requirements, then test for efficacy. Pam will keep at it until she finds the solution.

Principled Action
Pam's foremost quality is to help students. She will work with the campus degree audit clerks to clarify policy and research the student’s academic record so that each student can receive all college credit to his advantage. This task involves reviewing transcripts from several colleges, reviewing military credit, confirming TSI scores, checking GPA, converting quarter hours to semester hours … all must be done before information is entered in Colleague.

Self-Starter and Innovator

Recently Pam received an inquiry from a campus degree audit clerk, and while assisting with this problem she identified another. The issue involved course descriptions in the Web catalog. She took it upon herself to check EVERY course description and found many more that needed to be changed (and have since been corrected). It was her initiative and commitment to to quality that led her through this project and continue to drive her work ethic. I think Pam Hardman is a perfect choice for Hero of the Month as she consistently exhibits excellence, creativity and caring, and has been a loyal and generous DCCC employee for more than 20 years.
