There is a song that captures the soul of this person being nominated, and that song is “Proud Mary”. This person is strong, willing, determined, energetic, ever supportive to all people and “delivers” many Web-perfected products to our students, staff and the community at large. To begin with, her office must provide finalized course descriptions and degree plans on the Web for the students’ needs. She also provides this information to advisors, registrars, degree audit, transfer services and others who work directly with students. The availability of accurate course and degree information helps the advisors as they advise and place students appropriately. She completes many hours of detailed and precise work so as to meet the required deadlines when launching a Web catalog. The information must be accurate. Brenda’s excellent technology skills and strong work ethic are key skill sets that make the Web catalog(s) available to our students for their academic needs and successes.

The finalized course descriptions and degree plans that Brenda codes and places on the Web also assist those students who transfer to other colleges to complete a baccalaureate degree, or will complete occupational programs or courses of study sought by them or employers. She understands the critical importance of providing the most updated information so students can plan their future course loads, which leads to their future life goals. Educational Affairs is very fortunate to have Brenda because of the skill sets she brings to the department: organization, time management, attention to detail, communication and patience. Brenda sets and ensures timelines for all catalog production cycles along with providing Web catalog updates to MAR/COM, WebCats, Advisors, Registrars and Degree Audit.

Brenda has so many talents that she is called upon by her peers to do additional projects throughout the year. These include: District Web Catalog Tech Team; District Web Catalog/Online Class Schedule Design Team; Districtwide Web site Design Team; Districtwide Web Style Guide Team; Districtwide Web Action Team (DWAT); Districtwide Intranet Redesign Team; and SACS Catalog Committee; therefore, I am nominating Brenda Welcome for her abilities of “delivering precious cargo” to many people even during times of navigating through difficult waters.
