The 1601 Hero
2010-2011
Power of a Positive Employee
The 1601 HERO

Look closely and you will notice that there are many HEROes at 1601 S. Lamar. They are the employees who have a dedication and commitment to the cause. These individuals are determined to do their job accurately with excellence, resiliency, and courage.

A 1601 HERO may not have a red cape. They can not fly or leap tall buildings in a single bound. Their heroics may seem mundane and they may not have great strength or supernatural powers. They may simply be someone who works tirelessly behind the scenes in quiet anticipation, or someone who leads the way  to achieve the goals of the DCCCD.

HERO Committee is dedicated to recognizing those employees who triumph over adversity and challenge. We recognize that it takes a positive employee to achieve the vision of the DCCCD. We recognize those individuals who exhibit that positive energy and a can do spirit. Look around your work place. You may see an everyday HERO sitting next to you. Take a moment to nominate that person for the HERO award. You will be glad you did!

Power of a Positive Employee (P.O.P.E.)

Before September 2010, our HEROes were known as P.O.P.E.s — Power of a Positive Employee.

We recognized that it takes positive employee energy to achieve the vision of our organization: DCCCD adds value to lives and builds communities. We recognized those individuals who exhibit that positive energy at the District Office.

Dr. Bettie Tully, ombudsman at El Centro College, has reminded us of Chancellor Wright Lassiter’s message to employees: DCCCD workgroups must be characterized by trust, integrity, honesty, community, mutual respect, collaboration and other similar qualities.

Positive employees use those qualities — plus a dash of can-do spirit — to bring the vision of DCCCD to life.
