Events Insurance Coverage

TULIP: Tenants’ and Users’ Liability Insurance Policy

DCCCD has partnered with the University and Risk Management Insurance Association (URMIA) to provide easily obtainable coverage at a competitive price for third parties who want to use the district’s facilities for an event.  This type of coverage is called a TULIP.

What is a TULIP?
A TULIP is a Tenants’ and Users’ Liability Insurance Policy, also known as "Events Coverage". It is used by institutions that permit "third parties" to use their facilities for specific events. It protects both the Facility User and the District against bodily injury and property damage claims. The insurance coverage is written by Clarendon National Insurance Company.

Who must purchase this insurance?
Any group or individual using a District facility or grounds, who cannot provide their own insurance that meets the District's requirements, must purchase insurance prior to the event.  Certain campus sponsored groups are excluded.

What kinds of events should have this coverage?
Art exhibitions, concerts, exhibits, dances, festivals, recreational events, sporting events, parades, conventions and any other event that is held by a third party on district property.  If uncertain, check with Risk Management for events that require insurance.

What will it cost?
Premium costs are determined by the nature of the event, the anticipated number of participants, and the number of days.  A price will be quoted once the online application has been completed.

How will the certificate of insurance be issued?
The insurance broker will send a copy of the certificate to the college representative and a copy will be sent to Risk Management. The applicant (tenant) will receive the original certificate of insurance.

How do I purchase the insurance?
Follow the link, Instructions for Purchasing Event Insurance Coverage.  Find the Pass Code for the campus where you want to hold the event.  Follow the link in the instructions and fill out the online application.
