Boiler and Machinery

Revised 09/20/04

The District's Boiler and Machinery policy protects equipment in the event of sudden and accidental breakdown, which results in financial loss.  Coverage includes property of the District as well as subsequent damage to the property of others.   This type of policy is necessary in addition to the standard Property Policy because the explosion of boilers and mechanical failure of equipment is generally excluded in the standard Property Policy.  The Property Policy does, however, cover damage to the District's property as a result of fire from the explosion of a boiler or the mechanical failure of machinery.  Any questions or claims that apply should be reported to Risk Management.
