A. RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY STATEMENT 20.0.0

Dallas County Community College District (the District) will protect the assets and earnings of the District against the risks of probable loss. This will be accomplished through the analysis and identification of potential risk exposures to the District and the development of a risk management program . Risk Management will analyze insurance coverage, evaluate exposures and conduct a cost analysis of the insurance policy (ies) to provide the District with a successful insurance program. Risk Management through risk analysis, identification of potential exposures, risk control, insurance coverage, loss prevention and safety, will support the protection of the District's assets.

B. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DISTRICT 20.0.0

1. Risk Management will make recommendations on insurance coverage and the purchase of insurance for the District. 

2. The interpretation of coverages, claims handling, and distribution of insurance charges for the insurance coverages identified below and described in the Risk Management Guidelines, Insurance Coverage will be the responsibility of Risk Management.

a. automobile coverages 

b. employee bonding 

c. liability coverages 

d. property coverages 

e. student group coverages 

f. worker's compensation 

3. Risk management is responsible for the purchase of worker's compensation coverage and providing technical support to Human Resources. The interpretation of worker's compensation act, claims handling, and distribution of charges for worker's compensation will be the responsibility of the District Human Resources Office.

C. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COLLEGES 20.0.0

1. It is the responsibility of each college to designate a safety coordinator who will formulate campus risk management plans to minimize employee injuries, loss of District assets, and third party liabilities resulting from college operations. 

2. College Presidents will ensure that their employees have a reasonably safe and healthful work environment and will maintain compliance with all government regulations
