What is the Training and Development Program?

The Training and Development Program consists of short-term, stand-alone classes. These classes cover a variety of topics that include soft skills and regulatory training. They are offered face-to-face and online.  

Who should attend?

These courses are open to all employees — professional support staff, faculty and administrators. Supervisor approval is required before registering.

What are the benefits for me?

We offer educational courses covering a variety of topics either in single sessions or short-term series, enabling you to receive training in diverse topics in a short amount of time. Individuals participating in these courses will gain valuable information that will assist them in effectively performing their specific job duties.

Program Topics

Sample topics include:

  • Customer Service
  • Communication in the Workplace
  • Cultural Diversity
  • Stress Management
  • Conducting Productive Meetings
  • Time Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Presentation Tips

Additional topics will include those determined by periodic focus groups, recommendations from the District Organizational Development (OrgDev) Council, and suggestions from all employee groups.

How do I register?

Courses are open to all employees — professional support staff, faculty and administrators. When a registration invitation is received from the District Organizational Development, employees should:

  • Contact their supervisor for approval to register for the appropriate program.
  • Once approval is obtained, log on to eConnect as an employee.
  • From the Employee Menu, choose "Register for Staff Enrichment."
  • Complete the form as indicated on the registration invitation and submit.
  • Choose the appropriate program from the list of options by checking the course box and submit.
  • You will receive a confirmation showing that your registration was received successfully.

When are classes held?

Classes are held monthly throughout the academic year. The length of a course is established by its content. 

Courses are held at locations throughout the district and are open to all employees.

Who will do the training?

Training will be provided by facilitators who have been recommended by the District Organizational Development (OrgDev) Council. Faculty or employees interested in becoming a facilitator or volunteer, or who would like to suggest a facilitator, please feel free to contact us.

Program Objectives

The overall program objectives are:

  • To provide professional development opportunities to improve employees’ abilities to perform job-specific tasks.
  • To provide training opportunities designed to enhance employees’ personal growth and development.
  • To engage employees in active learning experiences designed to enhance self-awareness and promote participation in a global society.
