Maximum quarter hour credits transferring to SCAD is 90.*
Total BA degree requirements (quarter hours) is 180.
The courses listed with SCAD equivalencies are currently transferable under the 2011 SCAD course catalog for specific SCAD requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication with a Concentration in Advertising, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography or Sequential Art. Students are subject to the requirements of the SCAD course catalog in effect at the time of his or her entry and registration at SCAD.
Students may choose to fulfill requirements of any subsequent SCAD course catalog within five years of their first enrollment at SCAD. This document is specific to Dallas County Community College District’s Associate in Arts Degree, Art and the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication with a Concentration in Advertising, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography or Sequential Art. In order for a class to be considered for transfer, it needs to be at least three semester credit hours or five quarter hours.
A grade of “C” or higher must be earned in the class. A course transferred from Dallas County Community College District may fulfill only one SCAD course requirement. A maximum of 18 courses may transfer into the SCAD BFA program of study. In some instances, a student's course selection may fulfill a different requirement than listed above. In those specific instances, it may be advantageous in the student's course of study to allow the course to fulfill a different requirement rather than a general education or free elective.
*Courses are subject to portfolio review at SCAD to transfer. Students not passing portfolio reviews may be required to complete more than 90 quarter hours at SCAD.
**This course is required to earn Associate in Arts Degree, Art from Dallas County Community College District.
