Purpose

Guidelines for Employment of Optional Retirement Program (ORP) Retirees with the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD).

ORP Retirees

ORP retirees may be rehired in a full-time position after retirement with no restrictions.  The DCCCD employment policies must be followed.

ORP retirees hired in part-time position are allowed to work a maximum of 1014 hours (part-time) or less per fiscal year.  The fiscal year begins September 1 and ends August 31.  The maximum number of hours per week for part-time employees is 19.5 hours.

ORP Reporting Hours

All part-time ORP working retirees must report total hours worked each calendar month to the location Human Resources Department no later than the second workday of the following month.

Failure to report all hours worked by the due date may jeopardize continued employment with the District.

Note: ORP retirees who return to employment with any Texas Public Institution or higher education are not eligible to have further ORP contributions made to their ORP account (once retired, always retired).  This restriction applies even if they discontinue their retiree insurance, return to employment in what would otherwise be considered a benefits-eligible position, and/or enroll in active insurance.
