Salary schedules for the Administrative Bands I-IV (excluding Unbanded) were increased by 7.5%. Salary schedules for the Professional Support Staff, i.e., General, Facilities, Information Technology, College Police/Safety/Security, Licensed Professional Counselors and Library Services were increased by 8.5%.
All full-time and part time personnel employed as of June 30, 2014, will receive an Across the Board adjustment (ATB) of two point five percent (2.5%). This adjustment will be calculated based on the salary in effect on August 31, 2014.

Examples (Across the Board Increase [ATB]):

a. Across the Board Salary Adjustment for Contractual Employees:

  • A contractually paid employee's 2013-14 annual salary is $45,681.00.
  • His/her across the board salary adjustment is $1,142.03 ($45,681.00 x 2.5% = $1,142.03)
  • His/her 2014-2015 annual salary is $46,823.03 ($45,681.00 + $1,142.03 = $46,823.03)
  • Rounded upward annual salary will be $46,824.00
 
 b. Across the Board Salary Adjustment for for Faculty Employees:

  • A faculty employee's 2013-2014 annual salary is $44,485.00
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $1,112.13 ($44,485.00 x 2.5% = $1,112.13)
  • His/her 2014-15 annual salary is $45,597.13 ($44,485.00 + $1,112.13 = $45,597.13)
  • Rounded upward annual salary will be $45,598.00
 
c. Across the Board Salary Adjustment for Monthly Employees:

  • A monthly paid employee's 2013-14 monthly salary is $1,788.00
  • His/her 2014-15 across the board salary adjustment is $44.70 ($1,788.00 x 2.5% = $44.70)
  • His/her 2014-15 monthly salary is $1,832.70 ($1,788.00 + $44.70 = $1,832.70)
  • Rounded upward monthly salary will be $1,833.00

d. Across the Board Salary Adjustment for Hourly Employees:

  • An hourly paid employee's 2013-14 hourly pay rate is $12.20
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $0.31 ($12.20 x 2.5% = $0.31)
  • His/her 2014-2015 hourly pay rate is $12.51 ($12.20 + $0.31 = $12.51)
 
e. Job Reclassification Prior to September 1, 2014 (Without Promotion):

  • A Professional Support Staff position is reclassified without a promotion effective August 1, 2014, as a result of the job evaluation process
  • The employee's 2013-2014 monthly wage prior to the reclassification was $2,056.76, which is greater than the minimum of the position which was allotted into Range C04 on the new salary schedule of $1,878.92
  • He/she will receive the 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment of 2.5%
  • His/her across the board salary adjustment is $51.42 ($2,056.76 x 2.5% = $51.42)
  • His/her 2014-15 monthly wage is $2,108.18 ($2,056.76 + $51.42 = $2,108.18)
  • Rounded upward monthly wage will be $2,109.00
 
f. Faculty Reclassification:

  • A faculty member is eligible to be reclassified from range FA (FF1) to range FB (FF2)
  • The reclassification amount is $2,000.00
  • His/her 2013-2014 annual salary is $45,200.00
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $1,130.00 ($45,200.00 x 2.5% = $1,130.00)
  • His/her 2014-2015 annual salary as computed is $48,330.00 ($45,200.00 + $1,130.00 + $2,000.00 = $48,330.00)
 
Examples (Salary Adjustment Based on Increase to Salary Schedule plus Across the Board Increase:

a. Salary Schedule plus Across-the-Board Salary Adjustments for Contractual Employees:

  • A contractually paid employee's 2013-2014 annual salary is $42,023.00 (minimum of Administrative Band I)
  • His/her across the board salary adjustment is $1,050.58 ($42,023.00 x 2.5% = $1,050.58)
  • His/her new salary with across the board adjustment is $43,073.58 ($42,023.00 + 1,050.58=$43,073.58)
  • Administrative Band I salary band increased by 7.5%
  • His/her annual salary is adjusted to the minimum of Band I since his/her current salary is below the new minimum of $45,175.00
  • His/her 2014-2015 adjusted salary plus the across the board is $46,225.58 ($45,175.00 + $1,050.58 = $46,225.58)
  • Rounded upward annual salary will be $46,226.00
 
b. Salary Schedule plus Across the Board Salary Adjustments for Monthly Employees:
 
  • A monthly paid employee's 2013-14 monthly wage is $1,878.92 (minimum of Salary Range C04)
  • His/her 2014-15 across the board salary adjustment is $46.97 ($1,878.92 x 2.5% = $46.97)
  • His/her new wage with across the board adjustment is $1,925.89 ($1,878.92 + $46.97 = $1,925.89)
  • Professional Support Staff – General, Range C04, salary range increased by 8.5%
  • His/her monthly wage is adjusted to the minimum of Range C04 since his/her current monthly wage is below the new minimum of $2,038.62
  • His/her 2014-2015 adjusted monthly wage plus the across the board is $2,085.59 ($2,038.62 + $46.97 = $2,085.59)
  • Rounded upward monthly wage will be $2,086.00
 
c. Salary Schedule plus Across the Board Salary Adjustments for Hourly Employees:

  • An hourly paid employee's 2013-14 hourly pay rate is $18.55 (minimum of Salary Range FP8)
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $0.46 ($18.55 x 2.5% = $0.46)
  • His/her new pay rate with across the board adjustment is $19.01 ($18.55 + $0.46 = $19.01)
  • Professional Support Staff – Facilities, Range FP8, salary range increased by 8.5%
  • His/her hourly pay rate is adjusted to the minimum of Range FP8 since his/her current hourly pay rate is below the new minimum of $20.13
  • His/her 2014-2015 adjusted hourly pay rate plus the across the board is $20.59 ($20.13 + $0.46 = $20.59)
  • Hourly pay rate will be $20.59
 
d. Promotion Prior to September 1, 2014, but not input in August 2014:

  • A Professional Support Staff employee is promoted from Range T51 to Range T52 effective August 8, 2014
  • His/her monthly wage prior to the promotion was $2,636.25
  • He/she is eligible for a 7% promotion increase of $184.54 ($2,636.25 x 7% = $184.54)
  • His/her monthly wage effective August 8, 2014, should be $2,820.79 ($2,636.25 + $184.54 = $2,820.79)
  • His/her August 31, 2014, salary is $2,820.79
  • Professional Support Staff – Information Technology, Range T52, salary range increased by 8.5%
  • He/she is not brought to the minimum of Range T52, $2,781.76, since his/her salary, $2,820.79, is above the minimum for that range. The ATB is applied based on his/her August 31, 2014, salary.
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $70.52 ($2,820.79 x 2.5% = $70.52)
  • His/her new wage with across the board adjustment is $2,891.31 ($2,820.79 + $70.52 = $2,891.31)
  • Rounded upward monthly wage will be $2,892.00
 
e. Job Reclassification Prior to September 1, 2014 (Without Promotion):

  • A Professional Support Staff position is reclassified without a promotion effective August 1, 2014, as a result of the job evaluation process
  • The employee's 2013-2014 monthly wage prior to the reclassification was $1,978.10, which is a greater than the minimum of the position which was allotted into Range C04 on the salary schedule of $1,878.92

  • His/her 2014-15 monthly wage is $2,027.55 ($1,978.10 + $49.45 = $2,027.55)
  • Professional Support Staff – General, Range C04, salary range increased by 8.5%
  • His/her monthly wage is adjusted to the minimum of salary range C04 since his/her current monthly wage is below the minimum of $2,038.62
  • His/her 2014-2015 adjusted monthly wage plus the across the board is $2,475.03 ($2,038.62 + $49.45 = $2,088.07)
  • Rounded upward monthly wage will be $2,089.00
 
f. Promotion Effective September 1, 2014:

  • A Professional Support Staff employee is promoted from Range FP6 to Range FP8 effective September 1, 2014
  • His/her monthly wage prior to the move was $2,538.92
  • He/she is eligible for a 7% promotion increase of $177.72 ($2,538.92 x 7% = $177.72)
  •  His/her monthly salary effective September 1, 2014, should be $2,716.64 ($2,538.92 + $177.72 = $2,716.64)
  • His/her 2014-2015 across the board salary adjustment is $63.47 ($2,538.92 x 2.5% = $63.47). Note that the 2.5% across the board is applied to the current wage prior to the promotion
  • His/her 2014-2015 monthly wage will be $2,780.11 ($2,538.92 + $177.72 + $63.47 = $2,780.11), adjusted wage based on promotion plus the across the board wage adjustment
  • Professional Support Staff – Facilities, Range FP8, salary range increased by 8.5%
  • His/her monthly wage is adjusted to the new minimum of salary range FP8 since his/her wage with the 7% promotional increase is below the new minimum of $3,489.36
  • His/her 2014-2015 monthly wage is $3,552.83 [$3,489.36 (minimum of new salary range) + $63.47 (ATB amount)] = $3,552.83
  • Rounded upward monthly wage will be $3,553.00
 
NOTE: Salary Increase Process (Two-step process):

Step 1:
 
If employee’s is below the new salary range minimum take him/her to the new minimum and add to this amount 2.5% of his/her salary as of August 31, 2014. This becomes his/her salary September 1, 2014. If his/her salary is above the new minimum, you only need to add the ATB amount to his/her August 31, 2014 salary. This becomes his/her salary September 1, 2014. 

Example (PSS-Facilities):

August 31, 2014 – Salary = $25,766.78 (Below New Minimum – FP4)
August 31, 2014 – Salary = $27,800.05 (Above New Minimum – FP4)
August 31, 2014 – Salary = $34,250.00 (Above New Minimum – FP6)
September 1, 2014 – New Minimum – Range FP4 = $26,090.00
September 1, 2014 – New Minimum – Range FP6 = $33,057.00
ATB Percentage = 2.5%
Promotion Increase = 7%


Below Minimum of New Salary Range:

This employee is below the new minimum for Range FP4, adjust his/her salary to the new minimum ($26,090.00), apply the 2.5% ATB to his/her August 31, 2014 salary ($25,766.78); add the two amounts together to determine his/her September 1, 2014 salary. 

This employee is below the new minimum for Range FP4, adjust his/her salary to the new minimum ($26,090.00), apply the 2.5% ATB to his/her 08/31/2014 salary ($25,766.78); add the two amounts together to determine his/her September 1, 2014 salary. 

  • $25,766.78 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 2.5% (ATB %) = $644.17 (ATB amount)
  • $26,090 (new minimum) + $644.17 (ATB amount) = $26,734.17 (Salary)
  • September 1, 2014 Salary Rounded Upward = $26,735.00
 
Above minimum of New Salary Range:

This employee’s salary is above the new minimum, salary should be calculated as follows:

  • $27,800.05 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 2.5% (ATB %) = $695.00 (ATB amount)
  • $27,800.05 (August 31, 2014 salary) + $695.00 (ATB amount) = $28,495.05 (Sept. 1, 2014 Salary)
  • Sept. 1, 2014 Salary Rounded Upward = $28,496.00
 
If he/she was part of the job evaluation process or received an ad hoc effective September 1, 2014, then go to Step 2.

Step 2:

Promotion to Range FP6

Below Minimum of New Salary Range:

Use his/her September 1, 2014, salary as calculated above before rounding ($26,742.25). If this amount is below the new salary range minimum to which he/she is being promoted, see calculation below:

  • $25,766.78 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 2.5% (ATB %) = $644.17 (ATB amount)
  • $25,766.78 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 7% (percent increase) = $1,803.67 (promotion amount)
  • $25,766.78 (August 31, 2014 salary) + $644.17 + $1,803.67 (promotion amount) = $28,214.62 (adjusted September 1, 2014 salary, rounded upward $28,215.00)
 
However, since the September 1, 2014, salary ($28,215.00 rounded upward) is below the new minimum for Range FP6 ($33,057.00), the employee’s new September 1, 2014, salary is minimum of Salary Range for FP6 + ATB increase (based on August 31, 2014, salary). See calculation below:

  • $33,057.00 (new minimum for Salary Range FP6) + $644.17 (ATB) = $33,701.17
  • September 1, 2014, Salary Round Upward = $33,702.00
 
Above Minimum of New Salary Range:

This employee’s salary as indicated in the “Example” is above the new minimum for Range FP6, therefore, no adjustment based on the salary schedule change is needed, see calculation below:

  • $34,250.00 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 7% (percent increase = $2,397.50 (promotion amount)
  • $34,250.00 (August 31, 2014 salary) x 2.5% (ATB %) = $856.25 (ATB amount)
  • $34,250.00 (August 31, 2014 salary) + $2,397.50 (promotion amount) + $856.25 (ATB amount) = $37,503.75 (September 1, 2014 salary)
  • September 1, 2014 Salary - $37,504.00 (rounded upward)
