Extra-Service Guidelines

Combined Employment:  Part-time hourly, adjunct faculty-credit, adjunct faculty-continuing education (CE) and substitute faculty employees may work a maximum of 1014 hours per fiscal year (hours include the cumulative total of all positions worked at all District locations). 

 

 


   

Compensation

Workload Regulations

A Faculty Generally
50% to 100% contract for prior and following academic year.

Exception:  Full-time faculty who retire after the academic year are compensated the same as faculty generally for the ensuing formula season.  Compensation is only available to the retiring faculty member if not previously used during the last academic year of employment.

Faculty Premium Pay
1/6 annual contract x 40% (.0666) or lecture/lab grid

Faculty Premium Pay
$1,300.00 per credit hour for a maximum of six (6) credit hours or $7,800.00.

Full-Time Faculty
Limited to six (6) credit hours, which includes both summer and/or non-traditional semesters.
    Extra Service Rate Maximum of 49% of the 30-hour workweek (approximately 14.7 hours) for each additional teaching semester/ session.
  Summer Sabbaticals (paid as Faculty Premium Pay) - Faculty Premium Pay may be used to pay faculty who are taking summer sabbaticals.

$1,300.00 (premium pay x 6 (credit hours) = $7,800.00 (Sabbatical Pay).

 
    Extra Service Rate Adjunct Faculty – Credit (Non-TRS)

Maximum of 49% of the 30-hour workweek (approximately 14.7 hours) for each additional teaching semester/ session.

    Extra Service Rate or Hourly Rate, as applicable Adjunct Faculty – CE (Non-TRS)

A non-credit adjunct instructor is allowed to work a maximum of 1014 (less than one-half time) hours per fiscal year.  The maximum number of contact hours per week for adjuncts paid hourly is 19.5 hours.

One field course between end of the spring and beginning of first summer session or one course during either summer session
E. Field Studies
Faculty at maximum workload for summer session

Faculty Premium Pay is included in the regular payroll check in equal increments based on the beginning and ending dates of service.

An exception to load guidelines such as supplemental load beyond 49 percent of the 30-hour work week (approx. 14.7 hours) equivalent for DCCCD employees, or supplemental load during the regular work day should be documented, approved by the appropriate college administrator and discussed with the Chancellor by the official reporting date for the semester/class and the documentation kept on file at the college. Additions or changes made after the official reporting date should be documented as well.​
