Paid Leave Benefits

 

Employees of DCCCD are eligible for many different types of leave, and accrue leave at different rates. Find out what kinds of leave are available to employees and specifics about each type:

Vacation 

Full-time administrators on 12-month contracts are eligible for 24 working days of vacation per fiscal year (2 days per month).

Maximum: 48 days per year can be carried into the next fiscal year.  Accrual begins at date of hire.

0-60 months/1 day (8 hours)
61-120 months/1.25 days (10 hrs.)
121-180 months/1.50 days (12 hrs)
181-239 months/1.75 (14 hrs.)
240 months/2 days, 16 hours

Maximum: 48 days per year can be carried into the next fiscal year.  Accrual begins at date of hire.

Sick Leave

12 days/96 hours per fiscal year. Maximum of 66 days can be carried forward into the next fiscal year.

1 day/8.0 hours per month. Maximum of 66 days per year can be carried forward into the fiscal year.

10 days/60 hours per fiscal year. Maximum of 66 days cay be carried forward into the next fiscal year.

Additional Types of Leave

Bereavement (for Immediate family members of colleagues)

Up to three (3) consecutive days, per episode, at any one time for an immediate family member and used for attending funeral services of colleague or family member. Immediate family: spouse, child, father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, sister, brother, grandchild, grandparent or other person who occupies a position of similar significance in the family of an employee.

Critical illness leave allows employees to care for an immediate family member during medical emergencies. Not to exceed three (3) days at any one time. If death occurs during critical illness, employee may take an additional three (3) days of leave.

Catastrophic Sick Leave Pool

Sick leave pool is intended to provide employee and employee's family during hardship and when employee has exhausted all leave time earned and must meet a 20-calendar day elimination period.

A maximum of 90 working days (720 hrs) or up to 12 working days for dependents (96 hrs).

Court Appearance

Excused from work with pay for a subpoena as a witness in a case not related to the employee.
