TexFlex Spending Accounts:

  • Texflex is a way to use pre-tax savings dollars to cover eligible health care expenses.  Calculate the benefit of enrolling in TexFlex.

Optional Term Life Insurance Plan:

Minnesota Life Insurance Company website.  

  • Optional Term Life Insurance - Supplemental life insurance provided up to 4 x the employee's annual salary.
  • Dependent Term Life - Optional to purchase

    $5,000 in Term Life
    $5,000 in Accidental Life and dismemberment

  • Voluntary AD&D - Additional Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance can be purchased.

Long-term Care Plan:

John Hancock Life Insurance Company, 1-800-400-9396,  (username: ers; password: mybenefit) - This is no longer an option offered by ERS.

This provides certain benefits not covered by your medicare plan such as nursing home care and adult care.

 

Workers Compensation:

  • Workers Compensation pays medical bills and replaces some lost wages (70 percent) for employees who are injured at work or who have a work-related disease or illness.

 

Disability Insurance Plan:

Aon Hewitt (effective Sept. 1, 2013) - website: https://www.aontipp.com/

  • Short-term Disability Insurance - coverage if employee becomes totally disabled.  It covers 66 percent of your monthly income after a waiting period.
  • Long-term Disability Insurance - This provides protection from loss of income up to 60 percent.  A waiting period of 180 consecutive days must be satisfied before disability benefits become payable.

Leave Without Pay with Benefits:

  • Continuation of benefits provides for the extension of an employee's health coverage during a period of leave without pay.

Exit Interview - Continuation Coverage (COBRA):

  • COBRA insurance allows an employee to temporarily extend their health and dental coverage at the group rates at their own expense.

Death of an Employee:

DCCCD has procedures for life insurance benefits and final payroll in the event of a death of an employee.
