Copyright

Reproduction of copyrighted material without prior permission of the copyright owner, particularly in an educational or academic setting, is an issue of concern for both faculty and students.

According to the Association of American Publishers, “Publishers in the United States and worldwide are facing enormous challenges in the area of intellectual property protection. Securing copyrighted works against unauthorized use in print and electronic format, in the domestic and international marketplace; protecting the integrity of copyrighted works in the digital environment; tracking the use of these works; and developing workable compensation mechanisms are essential if the industry is going to survive and grow.”

It is the policy of the Dallas County Community College bookstores to respect the intellectual property rights of others, and the bookstore will not sell or reproduce books, coursepacks or readers which contain copyrighted materials unless either the copyrights have been cleared by a professional custom academic publisher.
